Australia Day celebrations

Swamp Macquarie council organised the celebrations for Australia Day at Speers Point. After shopping in the morning, we went up there for the afternoon.

There were several thousand people there with stalls, carnival rides and food stands set up in the park. There is a company called OzClimb that runs a portable climbing wall, but the belay is a mechanical one - some kind of bellows system like a reverse bungee. It looked safe enough, but I'm just not comfortable trusting my life to a belay I can't see so we gave it a miss.

At about 7.00 Daryl Braithwaite performed for an hour or so, which really got the crowd going. He did oldies like "rise"& "howzat" and newer ones like "One Summer".

That went until about 8.00 and after that Marcia Hines was on, but we decided to give her a miss and get Jaz home to bed.

After a quick skate at a new skatepark in Eleebana we got home about 9.00 and had an early night.
