Excuse My French!

Well it has taken ages to long in because my Grandad seems to have this page set up in French!! I have had to figure everything out!

Anyway, lated news on our moving:
We're out of our house at Caboolture now, and staying with my grandparents this week until our new place at Edens Landing is vacant. We are supposed to be moving in on Friday, but I am hoping for sooner :) We had endless trouble moving our stuff - the exhaust pipe rusted and moved, which melted the car's internal electrics, so had to get emergency repairs. I backed the trailer into the side of our car, the electrics have gone again - one of the blinkers doesnt work if the headlights are on and I was towing the trailer and it came off in the middle of an intersection near the airport...plus a few other minor things, but well it really wasn't fun!
Jazmin is going great, but she is very unsettled at the moment without her "stuff" and her normal bed and routine, so her behaviours is understandable but not enjoyable!
Justin's new job is going well so far - the moeny is less but he likes it more so I say thats a good enough trade off. He is mostly just doing tax returns at the moment with is pretty easy :) He looks about 5 years younger too - the stress of the old job was getting to him.

Overall, we're getting there - just looking forward to it all being over!

Busy Weekend

Yesterday Jazmin and I went to Garden City while Justin was at work. As expected the Harry Potter hype was huge, with the realease of the new book. I sat at Gloria Jeans/Borders for about an hour and had a hot coffee while Jazmin slept through - oblivious. The people in the queue changed, but it never got any shorter.

Even Crazy Clarks was in on it! This dolly was outside the store - I thought it was cute.

Today, we went to the tip first thing and then went to the meeting at Caloundra. When we got home we freecycled a cupboard - nice but we just werent using it. We loaded up the trailer and took 2 sofas and various other things down to Justin's work at Moorooka. Nothing more will fit there now - it's full! We've been using up all the stuff in our freezers - so we had roast for tea tonght, which even though I had cooking for ages, was still red and we cooked it up some more, but I didn't really like it. Luckily we can start taking things to Gideon's work tomorrow, so Justin plans to be there at 9am to unload another trailer full of stuff.

Record low temps in south-east Qld

Haven't really done much so far this week, packing and relaxing before the move next week mostly. Also I have an incredibly sore throat - so if there's anyone reading this that I havn't called for a long while, please accept my apologies, my my throat is just not up to it! I think I have glandular fever back again (damn!) - not much can be done, just have to ride it out and hope it gets better ASAP! Jazmin is still a bit sick, but Justin seems to be getting over it ok. He says he likes his new job and I can see a big change in him, he is a lot less stressed! he is working all week this week (Monday to Saturday) but that means he can have 2 days off next week for moving.

Jazmin's follow-up eye appointment is on Tuesday, (It looks to be much better to me) and after that we'll move most of out stuff down the coast. Gideon has said we can use the garage at his work to store our stuff, which is great because his work is only about 20 minutes from our new place. The website for his company is great - as is the software it's http://www.nova-mind.com/ if you want to have a look. We're using a mind map as our basic movic plan and have found it to be very helpful, but of course it has much more widespread uses than that.

Odie cat is going to his new temporary home on Monday night, we asked on Freecycle if anyone could "cat-sit" while we move, and one lady has agreed to do this for us, which is a big help. Moving house can be very stressful on cats, and we want to make it as calm as we can for him by having him out of the house before we start moving the big stuff.

We're going to leave Jazmin's bed there in the laundy and then put it back in her room for the last night because it will be hard to get her to sleep otherwise. I remember how stressed she was last time we moved, but she is bigger now and able to be entertained by a DVD!! We're keeping our little TV and DVD player out to take to my grandparent's place, so she can watch what she likes without driving them nuts with the same thing over and over and over again - an endless rotation of Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, Shrek 1 & 2 (I am hanging for Shrek 3 on DVD), Mr.Men & Little Miss and My Little Pony... All attempts to get her to watch something else - Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Wiggles - you name it, I've tried it - have been met with a request for one of the above said DVDs!!

South-east Queenslanders have woken to a record-breaking cold morning.

The Bureau of Meteorology said temperatures fell to a record low at Brisbane Airport shortly after sunrise, with a temperature of -0.1 degrees celsius recorded at 6.39am (AEST).

The previous record for the airport was 0.6 degrees, recorded in 1971 and 1994.

Elsewhere in the region, Ipswich, south-west of Brisbane, recorded a low of -4.8 degrees overnight, just 0.1 degree short of the lowest temperature recorded there, in 1995.

There have also been reports of -7 degrees in Stanthorpe, in Queensland's south, while nearby Warwick recorded a temperature of -6.4 degrees.

Kingaroy, north-west of Brisbane, plunged to -3.2 degrees, while Amberley, in Brisbane's south-west, fell to -1.9 degrees.

Brisbane itself was slightly warmer at 3.9 degrees, while the Gold Coast got to a low of 3.1 degrees about 7am (AEST) and the Sunshine Coast recorded 1.4 degrees.

The cold weather is a result of a combination of dry air and clear night skies as well cold air being pushed up from the south by a strong low pressure system in the Tasman Sea, a bureau spokesman said.

Cold temperatures are expected to continue on Friday but should return to average by the weekend, the spokesman said.

Jazmin's First Haircut

We took Jazmin for a haircut and I got mine trimmed just a little bit while we were there. She sat reasonably well most of the time. She hates having anything in her hair, no pretty clips or baubles for this princess....All pony tails, as adorable as they are, were ripped out within seconds of being put in. Still, she was unimpressed with the hair in her eyes, so the best thing to do was get it cut. We collected a lock of hair, which will have pride of place in our scrapbook.

Busy!

Had to go and get a copy of our lease agreement from Ray White, then to go down to Centerlink and sort some stuff out. Walked up to coles and got cat food and tissues! Boring but we'd run out of both. After that Jaz had some chips and I had a toasted sandwhich. When we'd finished lucnh I too Jaz for play in the park. She's now watching "mr bump" coz it's one of her favorite dvds. I think she'll go to sleep soon!

Tow bar

Had appointment this morning to get a tow-bar fitted to the car: all done, now I will just have to watch my legs when I put the pram in! I did the maths and since we can borrow a trailer, and we are not really moving far, it will be much cheaper to just use the trailer than to hire a truck. Also there are a lot of potential benefits later on - camper trailers etc.

Because Justin starts work at 10am now, it's a bit more relaxed in the morning. The tow bar place had us down for 8am. It is just across the road from Bunnings, so we dropped the car and went over to Bunnings for a coffee. They have a playland there too, and the first thing jazmin says when we go in there is "play" so she obviously remembers!

Justin has got the work car now (at least for this week until they sort something out) so he drove down to work after he'd finished his coffe and then I went back to get the car. It is good already having 2 cars. He did say though that the train is no too bad from Caboolture to Moorooka, didn't take too long. Suppose it's peachy compared to the Wyong-North Sydney run he used to do!

Jazmin is exhausted from playing so she's having a nap. She's still a bit sick too but is starting to get better now.

Climbing @ Kilcoy

Yesterday Justin didn't have to go to work, so we took at picnic/bbq out for the day. We looked around Kilcoy but couldn't find anywhere that had a barbecue! We stopped at a this playground so Jaz could have a run around.

After that we drove home via Glass House, and BBQ'd there, but it was so cold and windy we ended up eating it in the car!

A THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Gross

Ok this post is not for the squeamish. We have had a few mice around in the garage as sometimes happens. The other day Odie (our cat) brought a dead one in. After I had finished freaking out - I hate mice - I just got the brush and shovel and dumped it outside. This morning when I stumbled out to the garage in a half asleep stupor to give Odie a sachet of wet food, I stood on a half eaten mouse. In bare feet. It was SOOOOOOOOO feral and well it woke me up quick smart. We have mouse poison out, but he seems to be doing a much better job that that. I just hope he doesn't eat a poisoned one. The poison is old so maybe it's lost its potency. But that was just so gross! I guess thats just what cats are designed to do!

Justin is at work today till 1pm then it's off up to Bunnings this arvo when he gets home. Jazmin is in bed and has taken her medicine. She seems to be starting to get better - not so sore throat from the sounds of it.

It's official!

We are moving house! We have to be out by the 27th and we can move into our new place on the 3rd of August. My grandparents have kindly agreed to let us stay with them for the week in between. The new place is at Eden's Landing and is a 3 bedroom house with built-ins and ensuite etc. it is the only place we looked at and really liked. We're looking forward to it! Eden's Landing is about 31km from Justin's work, which is great. He'll be home by 6:45 at the latest most times which will be great, especially since his work hours will be 10am till 6pm Monday to Thursday and 9am till 1pm on Saturday. He is supposed to be getting a work car, but still it's not too far if I need to drop him there anyway - it used to take us 15 minutes just to drive to the train station when we lived at San Remo.

Jazmin is still sick, but seems no worse. I am feeling somewhat better which is good because it is hard to deal with a grizzling toddler when I feel like crap myself.

The plasterer came this morning and fixed the hole in the garage (which I put there - drove the car in a bit too far!) and Kleenmaid finally came and fixed the oven, which has been waiting since December or January! We'll have to go up to Bunnings to get some paint for the hole repair and also they have boxes, some of which we should be able to take as packing boxes. When we were up at Caloundra the other day, we went and asked at the shops if they had any boxes. The only one thatdid was the bottle shop, so we have heaps of beer and spirits boxes!! It looks like we consumed a whole lot!

Jazmin Has The 'Flu

Poor kid has a very runny nose and a raspy throat. The medicine doesn't seem to be doing much, not even helping her sleep - it is supposed to be a mild sedative! Anyway, she's in bed now, but we'll just have a weekend at home to prevent her giving it to anyone else!

Spent all day looking at real estate down south. We have now applied for 2 places...one was last Saturday and they are still waiting on the landlord to call back (grrrr, we really like it) and the other is a place we looked at today. We're still in two minds about moving, especially because the places between Logan and Moorooka are within 35 minutes of the city, so all expensive. Any further south and we'd be on the Gold Coast, which is a bit too far and of course premium rent prices there too.

Played "Skill Tester" and got a Mars bar. Last week I played "Skill Tester" and got a baby Shrek toy and a Donkey toy.

Justin starts his new job tomorrow.....
