Not A Guilt Catcher

There is a concept that some people are "guilt throwers" and others are "guilt catchers" - pretty self explanatory....I am not a "Catcher' and I think that frequently annoys my boss because several times now I feel that she has tried to guilt me into staying longer than my shift - I'm happy to stick around for a bit, however I plan other things besides work. I leave when I get the courage to say that I really need to go now, but sometimes that is not till like an hour after I was supposed to clock off....even then it is met with grumbles...I decided that they can take me when they have rostered me on, and not when they haven't! It was even suggested to me that I put Jazmin in daycare so I can come and work day-shift. I can't do day-shift any more because Justin has got a new job which he starts on Monday. Putting Jazmin in daycare is not a consideration for me right now. I want to be with her, and I believe that it's my job to do that first and foremost. Anyway, it's kind of OK, but I am still getting used to closing which I did last night, got home around 2am.

The replacement washing machine blew up tonight, and it is going to cost more to get it fixed than it would for a new one, so we'll have to get a new one soon.

I'm Awake

Kind of!

Closed last night but was home by 2am so that was pretty good. Startled to find Justy still up and cleaning had been done. Nice surpise to come home to. Am closing tonight too but don't expect to be out before 2am. Had a breakfast date with Justy this morning - we went to maccas and had breakfast and let Jaz have a play. It was nice to have a chat with him because I rarely have time to do that now. Normally he is home at 6:45, and I have to leave at 6:50 for a 7pm shift!

Jazmin is asleep now - and has been for a lot of the morning which is great because it allowed me to go back to bed and catch up on some sleep myself. The store I work at is next door to a Caltex which is 24hrs so I normally go across and get an iced coffee about midnight when I'm closing. Helps me keep going! Other than that though, I have cut my general coffee consumption in half - which is a feat for me!

A New Old Car

Yesterday we traded in our green limousine for a red 1989 Nissan Pulsar hatch. It has no air-con - but it does have a CD player (more important than a/c for a night pizza deliverer!). It is small and will be much better on the black juice because all the stop/start of delivering pizza was chewing so much that it was hardly worthwhile. The Falcon was also a beast to turn around in the narrow streets. I am working tonight 7 till 9.30 tonight and 7-close Wed & Thurs (Hopefully we'll be out before 2am since we close at 12 on those days). Sunday night was very busy - I was supposed to be out of there by 7:30 but it was after 8:30 by the time I could really go. We have a new driver on - he has come over from Eagle Boys, so that's great because it takes some of the pressure off me, and hopefully gets me down to 3 closes a week. Only a few more weeks till I will be on holidays in Fiji!! Nothing like working to make one appreciate a holiday!

Jazmin is going through a really pedantic stage right now everything from how things have to be placed on the table to wanting to east toast with a spoon. I suppose she doesn't care that it's faster to just pick it up...toddlers seem to love dawdling and taking their time! It can be a bit frustrating at times how long she takes to do what she needs to do and how fast she can go when she is being naughty! Thank goodness for sleeping - she looks so adorable when she's asleep!

So tired!

Worked a nice short shift on Tuesday 7-9.30. Last night I worked 7-close (about 2am) and the same again tonight. I asked for my hours/days to be cut - like only working 4 or 5 shifts a week rather than 6 or 7. I don't HAVE to go to work so I can be a bit picky. They are desperate for drivers so they will accommodate me. It just makes me too grumpy for Jazmin when I have heaps of long shifts. On the brighter side though I made $13 in tips last night. Its good coz it doesn't get paid into my account - I get to bring it home in cash. Sometimes there are no tips but other times its good to have a bit of extra spending money - that I normally spend on Jazmin anyhow!

Still getting used to our place at Edens Landing, and haven't had time to unpack everything yet - in fact some of it is still over at Gideon's. We have inspection coming up so I would like to have it all done by then.

Since I am working tonight I will have to hand wash my uniform - AGAIN! Our washing machine has carked it - the motor has died and according to everyone I rang the company that made it has gone out of business (I wonder why-NOT!). So I bought a Fisher & Paykel one off eBay, which Justin is hopefully going to pick up tonight. It is not brand new but it doesn't look old. Fisher & Paykel is such a huge company I can't see there being any problems getting parts for it if need be. Only thing is that it's a top-loader and they generally use more water.

Last One

I think this is the last of the old footage. This is also in Napier at the McDonalds.

This one was at Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore when Jaz was about 1 and a half.

Uploading Other Videos

Just to get them on the net and off my desktop!
Enjoy.

I bought Jazmin some play shoes last week, which she loves. Justin had the camera the wrong way - and i can't flip the video, but you'll get the picture!

This is Jazmin's First Haircut.

This is Jazmin at a park in Napier

Justin's Birthday

We went to the Gold Coast Show for Justin's Birthday on 31 August. Here's some pics. Jazmin is on the Ferris Wheel and that is James in the last shot. We saw him at the show because he was there with the SES stand - he is a cadet.

And while we're on the subject of birthdays, this is some footage of Jazmin's birthday in May.

Brandy Pup In Da House

Welcome to the newest member of our household - Brandy the Golden Retriever. He was born in June so he is about 3 months old.
.

Odie is getting used to him, but still hisses and snarls and takes a swipe if he's close enough.
Here's a few pics too.

We went to the pet store to get some things for Brandy and Jaz was so tired when we got home that she fell asleep on the floor!

Looks like Odie needed a nap too: here he is asleep in a crate that's on our desk in the study.

Been Working Hard!

Well if the previously described shift was a baptism of fire, then I certainly have got the water one over the last couple of days. Here's me thinking that my next shift wasnt till Friday and they called me in every night except Monday this week. I was only supposed to be on from 7 till 9.30 last night but I did the last deliveries at about half past 10, and washed up a few dishes came home about 11:45. No real hassle to stay a couple of hours extra and will get paid for it. It's not too bad to get paid for driving around and washing dishes! There is of course a bit more to it than that but it's not particularly difficult. Working tonight - 7 till whenever and full day shift on Friday and 3 -7:15 on Saturday (yay - get home early-ish) if there are not too many deliveries. Sunday however, will be a big long shift 6pm till close - which could be anything to about 5am, depending on the mess and whether people have cleaned as they went! Pay is ok...every little bit helps :)

Jazmin doesn't care when either of us go to work now - she used to cry when Justy left, and was a bit confused that mummy was going "all work" (as she says) I think the first time I went but now she just waves and goes about whatever she was doing. I am glad that she is OK with it. I mostly go as soon as Justy gets home so dinner is ready and all he has to do is give it to her and bath and bed which he does anyway. She's pretty easy to look after now in that once she is in bed for the night we don't hear from her till the morning.

Here's another video of Jazmin when we were in Lower Hutt, NZ.

Official!

It's true. I am a Pizza Delivery Driver for Dominos
Last nights shift was 5 till 10:30pm, and fine - did 6 deliveries solo after training. Tonight's shift was a shocker even though it was only 5:15 - 8:15 I'm not going to go into it but there are some days one does not wish to repeat - this was one of those. Hoping for better luck next shift, which, thankfully, isn't till Friday. It's day-shift so hopefully I will get trained on the phone. Also means that I will be home at a reasonable hour :)
